There is a moment, I think, when an actor's persona becomes so chiseled and locked-in that it's impossible to accept that person as an actor anymore; he's a movie star now, and that's all he will ever be again. This is not to say this movie star cannot be effective in a film; Tom Cruise hasn't been anything other than Tom Cruise for two decades—Tom Cruise in a wheelchair! Tom Cruise with an eye patch! Tom Cruise in a fat suit! But once the persona is set, it's hard to come back. Cruise can't play Abraham Lincoln. Cher can't be anyone other than Cher. Robin Williams can try to button up his cokey-boomer energy all he wants, but he'll never not be Robin Williams. Poor guy.

Captain "of Watfrod" Troy deeney has condemned the policy of social networks in relation to racial discrimination. If a well-known black player like Raheem sterling is subjected to racist insults, all this quickly accumulates, helps to grow traffic, increases the profit and advertising attractiveness of companies. If I look through my instagram comments, one in ten will have a racist Emoji, and this is not uncommon. Then I follow the Protocol: block the user, mark the message as "hate speech and symbols". And then they tell me that Emoji with a monkey and a banana is not considered racist. I complained that I was called a "black asshole" and was told that this was not a racist statement either. Social networks need to change their algorithms to respond to obviously racist messages - but do social networks even want this?
